ABOUT ME

BACP Logo - 403887.png

Hello, my name is Sarah. I am a BACP registered Counsellor and a Qualified CBT therapist.

My interest in mental health and counselling started during my own journey to wellness. I found along the way that I was fascinated with how the brain develops and functions. Before becoming a Cognitive Behaviour therapist, I worked as a meditation and breath work teacher. I also trained and worked as a Reiki practitioner.

Making the decision to reach out for help is a brave act, and in my eyes shows how strong you are. I know it's not an easy task to start therapy, so I always strive to create a warm, non-judgemental, and comforting environment with my clients from beginning to end.

Through the CBT lens, commonly through life experiences, one can have beliefs about themselves and their abilities that continue to get in the way of who they truly are. I know because I have lived it. Through self-discovery and the work done in therapy, one can grow new habits and views of themselves, which are more in alignment with who you want to be.

I specialize in anxiety, phobias, depression, low self-esteem and behavioural issues. I also have a special interest in ADD/ADHD and helping ADHDer's challenge their constantly busy minds. I work with a lot of different issues too, so please reach out and we can have a chat to see if we're a good fit.

I am originally from Canada but now call the UK my home. When I'm not doing counsellor related things, I enjoy dabbling in the arts by making things like jewellery, crochet, photography or dancing.

ABOUT

ABOUT MY THERAPY

I am a qualified CBT therapist. I have a deep passion to help others with their mental health and wellbeing. I studied at The Centre Of Therapy in Edinburgh, where I trained as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and gained a SQFC level 10 (honours degree) diploma in counselling & group work.

I am a registered member with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and my practice is overseen by the BACP's code of ethics to ensure that it adheres to professional counselling standards.

I bring warmth and empathy to every session while providing a non-judgemental environment for my clients to talk and explore their thoughts, behaviours and emotions.

I believe in a client centred approach to counselling. This means that I work collaboratively with you to create a treatment plan that meets your unique needs and goals. The foundation of my work is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with a person-centred approach, but I also pull upon other modalities like Mindfulness-based therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. I believe in collaboration in the therapeutic journey, as no body knows you better than YOU. I have also trained as a reiki and breath work practitioner, which I would only use with consent or if there was interest from the client. I believe in the mind-body connection and the importance it plays in the path to wellness.
